A name from old Novi Sad, a house on the Danube
The restaurant on Kamenjar carries the nickname of Đorđe Stanisavljev, one of the best known restaurateurs Novi Sad ever had. The name arrived before the house, and the house has carried it for twenty six years.
Since autumn 2024 it has been run by the Đukić family. The interior was refreshed, the spirit stayed the same, and the fish still comes from fishermen on this stretch of the river.

It all started with one car
In 1960 Đorđe Stanisavljev bought a Peugeot 203 and drove it into Novi Sad. From that day nobody called him by his given name again. He became Bata Pežo, and the nickname later passed to every tavern he opened.

A whole literature once sat at his tables
He ran taverns from 1965 on. His closest friends were Borislav Pekić, Borislav Mihajlović Mihiz, Brana Crnčević and Miroslav Mika Antić. Ivo Andrić, Branko Ćopić and Miloš Crnjanski dropped in as well.

The family carrying the story on
Since autumn 2024 the restaurant has been run by Danilo Đukić as owner and Anastasija Đukić as manager. The dining room was renovated, the terrace over the water stayed where it was, and the menu grew without giving up what the house is known for.

From the Danube to the plate
The house began as a river fish tavern and fish is still at its centre. The grill and the sač joined it over time.
